Grace United Community Ministries

OVERVIEW

·                    Mission:  To break the cycles of poverty, violence, and substance abuse

·                    Christian, Interdenominational – “United by Grace, Devoted to Community”

·                    GUCM began as an Outreach Ministry for Grace Presbyterian/Independence Avenue United Methodist Church and eventually became known as “Grace United”

·                    GUCM was incorporated in August 2004 and has 501(c)(3) status with the IRS -- Donations are tax deductible

·                    Three Core Programs:

Ø     Emergency Assistance

Ø     Children’s Education / Family Development

Ø     Substance Abuse Recovery

·                    Worship, Christian education, witness and fellowship are available throughout

·                    Holistic Ministry which meets spiritual, physical and educational needs of both individuals and families

·                    Small Administrative Staff

Ø                 Executive Director, Data Processor and part-time Fundraiser, two full-time Program Directors and eighteen part-time Staff

·                    Hundreds of volunteers from both the GUCM community and the greater community

·                    Funded by churches, individuals, foundation grants and government programs

·                    In-Kind Donations valued at $300,000+
