For students graduating from the After School Tutoring program, GUCM provides continued support and development through the Teen Enrichment and Leadership program. Students aged 13-17 participate in a year-long academic and leadership enrichment program. The program provides approximately 12 hours of weekly programming during the school year, and 30 hours of weekly programming during the summer.
The goal of the Teen Enrichment program is to prepare young people to meet the challenges of becoming an adolescence and growing into young adulthood. The program is a coordinated, progressive series of activities and experiences which help them to become socially, morally, emotionally, physically, and cognitively competent. Students learn to be both good leaders and team members.
Enrichment & Leadership activities including:
- Character development
- Prevention activities, problem-solving and critical thinking.
- Field trips to college campuses, local business tours, museums
- Presentations by cultural arts performing groups and guest speakers to broaden and enrich student experiences.
- Community service activities at a food pantries, community clean-ups, Christmas and Thanksgiving annual events.
Participating high school juniors and seniors with a 3.0 or higher GPA have the opportunity to serve as paid staff in our After School Tutoring and Summer Camp programs.
